Buying A Domain Name And Web Hosting

Thursday Aug 14, 2008
domain parking
Jerry Johnson asked:

You are ready to start your own web business. How do you register a domain? What can you do with your domain name once you have one? What about web hosting?

Let’s answer the easier question regarding what to do with your domain name. Obviously, you can use your new domain name to set up a web site. Fortunately, you can do a number of things with your domain once you register it. Have you thought about selling it? You can forward it to your main domain. You can even leave it parked just gathering dust waiting for you to decide what to do with it.

Make sure the domain register allows you to use the domain management features. With these features you should be able to access and update all aspects of your domain from your nameservers including your MX records (mail), to your privacy settings and contact information.

How do I go about registering my domain name? You have to decide which domain registry you want to use and how much you want to pay for this service. Quite honestly, if you are paying more that $10 to register your name, you are paying way too much. There are many solid companies that can register your name for under $10. Now you have chosen the domain registry you want to use.

First step, make sure your domain name has not been registered by someone else by doing a “whois″ search. I know, you are scratching your head and wondering what is a “whois″? The good domain registration sites maintain a whois database. Fortunately, they also have an easy way for you to check by just typing in the domain name and it will search the whois database and let you know whether it is available.

If the name is available, the search will let you know. Many of the domain registration websites will offer suggestions to you if that name is already taken. Word of caution. Think about your domain name and how it may be used in your business to drive traffic to your website. This is not to be taken litely.

Your name is available so now you can proceed with the checkout through the domain registration site. At this point, more than likely you are probably done! However may take up to 4 to 8 hours for dot”com” and dot”net” domains to become active and about 24-48 hours for other domain extensions. This is referred as our domain name is “live”.

So now you got a domain name and you want to set up a website. You need a site that provides web hosting. One again you have to decide how much you want to spend. Keep in mind that many of the domain registration sites offer low cost web hosting that is solid and reliable.

What programming language are you going to use for our website? Will you be using FrontPage? If so you will need a web host that has FrontPage extensions. Are you using HTML or an open source editor? Then a Linux based server will work for you.

Here are a few suggestions to watch for. Web hosting is normally charged monthly with some sites offering discounts for paid in advance service for 6 months or 12 months. Check the refund policy to see what happens if you cancel before the prepaid period is up.

Does your host provider support PHP 5? With PHP 5 support, you can program using the latest version of this server-side scripting language. There are free templates available that take advantage of existing applications and add-on’s written in PHP 5. Check to see if you can run both PHP 4 and PHP 5 simultaneously on the same site.

Don’t forget site administration. What type of administration interface is available? Can you easily make the changes to your site you need. Can you manage and maintain cgi apps, library versions, Perl, and Ruby on Rails from within the site administration area? Site administration is suppose to help you not frustrate you in getting around and doing things.

The hardest part about getting a domain name registered is making sure no one else has registered it. You may think your domain name is unique until you go to register it and find that not only is the dot”com” taken but also the dot”net”, dot”org″, dot”biz” and all the other extensions. You also can assume from that, you may be on to something that is desired on the web.

Buying a domain name and paying monthly for web hosting does not have to break the bank. You can pay a lot of money or you can actually pay less and still get a solid product. Have fun!

3 Ways to Make Money With your Domain Name

Hooshmand Moslemi asked:

Probably, you have heard about making money online. Also, you have seen lots of different programs and systems that help you earn cash on the Internet. It could be selling stuffs, being an affiliate, running a website, etc. Now, there is another surprising concept: making money with your own domain names. But, is it really true?

Shortly, I have to say that it is possible to earn a living with domain names. Today, there are lots of people starting their own businesses based on this kind of opportunity. But, first of all, you will need to know how it works.

Basically, there are 3 different ways to make money with your own domain names:

1. Buying domain names at low prices, then selling them higher:

Believe it or not, one of the most important secrets of a powerful and popular website is having a good domain name. Thus, many website owners are looking for such domain names and willing to pay a lot in order to own them. Suppose, you had registered that domain name earlier, so you are the person who sets the price and win the deal. That´s it. You have purchased the domain name at a very low price and have sold it many times higher. But the secret is that how you could get those good domain names. Actually, several years ago, it was not difficult to register a good domain name. But, today, it has become harder and harder. Yet, there is one promising solution: buying expired domain names. Everyday, thousands of domain names are being expired due to forgetting the payment of annual fees. After a while, the expired domain names will be deleted and then be available for everybody who wants to purchase it. Among those expired domain names, you can find some valuable, well-established and attractive domain names.

There are some sources on the net where you can find the needed information about expired domain names. On the other hand, you can find some sources to put your domain names for selling. At those auction places, you will see how the customers are bidding and competing in order to grab your domain name. Doing this business properly with working carefully can bring you a lot of profits.

2. Selling advertisements on your parked domain names:

Another way in this approach is to put advertisements on your parked domain name. You register a domain name, then park it on a specific marketplace. Besides, most of them allow you to choose some keywords related to the topic of your domain name. Afterwards, you can see the related advertisements on your parked domain name as sponsored links. These ads are often based on pay per click action and you will get paid whenever someone clicks on the ads. This way is a good idea, even if you intend to sell your domain name later. In fact, the earnings depend on the amount of your visitors. So, it would not be a huge amount of money. However, it could help you earn extra money with your own domain name.

3. Redirecting your domain name to a specific page:

The third method is actually an accessory way. For example, you are an affiliate, a person who sells the others´products or services. In most cases, you, as an affiliate, have a web page like the seller´s, but the difference is your URL address, that is to say your domain name. It is too long and full of various numbers and letters. Sometimes, it would be difficult to market or advertise a page with the URL address like that. Thus, you may need a better web address. So, it is time to register a related domain name and redirect it to your affiliate page. It means, whenever someone types your domain name in the address bar, the page will automatically be forwarded to the affiliate web page. In this way, you send traffic to that web page and if a sale is made, you will make money. So, it could be another way to make money with your registered domain name.

The above mentioned methods are the main ways that help you make money with your own domain names. But, naturally, it is business and there is always risk with any businesses and don´t forget that the whole process of making money depends mostly on your ambitions, individual capacities, expertise, business experiences and desires.

Good Luck!

Secrets of Expired Domain Name Traffic

Monday Aug 4, 2008

Lois S. asked:

One of the biggest challenges to a webmaster is how to generate
traffic. More traffic to your website equates to more sales. So
how does one generate extra traffic to their website? Search
engine optimization, email campaigns, pay-per-clicks, banner
advertising, are among some of the tactics that are popular.
Another method of generating traffic is through expired domain
names.
Step 1: Find a domain pending expiration
Every day thousands of domain names are released. Many of these
expired domain names were active websites that have already been
promoted by the previous owner. A few of the domains that are
released daily are valuable because of their age and the number
of links that they already have at various locations over the
Internet. How does one find these domains? There are many means
at which you can research these domains. There are newsletters
to which you can subscribe and request to receive a daily email
with up-coming expired domains. Go to google and enter “search
for expiring domains”. There are hundreds of thousands of
locations at which you can find domains pending deletion. One
site we often use is Expired Domains. This site is focused on
just one thing: helping people find the perfect domain name for
their website. Another example of a newsletter for web marketers
is NitroMarketing.com- a newsletter specifically aimed at
helping web marketers. Once you find a domain that you want, at
google enter links:domain.com (replace “domain.com” with the
domain you are researching) - this will show you how many links
this domain already has. This will tell you the value of the
domain. You want to look for a domain with a respectable link
popularity of around 500 to 1,000.
Everyday, hundreds of developed and thriving websites expire
Yet, these sites still receive endless traffic from the search
engines and links to them Identify these hot sites, make use of
their expired traffic, and make $$$
Step 2: Bid on the domain:
If you have decided that you want a domain that is pending
deletion, you can bid on it at one of the many sites that have
auctions or bidding forums. Bidding and winning these domains is
not something that you can leisurely embark upon. It takes time
and persistence. However, if you spend a little bit of time
every day, you will get great domains at a low price. Some
auction houses that we recommend are namewinner.com or enom.com.
Most require no deposit to begin bidding, but they will ask that
you confirm your identity via telephone or electronic means.
This is in an effort to reduce fraud and keep the prices lower
for legitimate bidders. After you have established an account,
and you have found a domain that you want to try for, open a bid
on that domain. Start low, but keep a watchful eye on the date
and time that the bidding stops. Twenty minutes before the
bidding is scheduled to be closed on that domain, re-visit their
site and watch the top bid. Refresh your screen every minute to
see the current highest bid. If the price gets too high for your
budget, stop. But if you can afford the current high-bid, you
might want to keep bidding in order to win that domain. If the
bidding stops and you are the current high-bid, then you have
won that domain.
Step 3: Receive the traffic:
Now what? You have a great domain… you can park that domain so
that it redirects visitors to your main website. With domain
parking, visitors will automatically be re-directed to your main
website. Some web hosting companies charge a small fee for
domain parking. WebsiteSource.com offers free unlimited domain
parking to its web hosting customers. If you maintain the
domain’s registration every year, you could have targeted
visitors to your website for less than $15 bucks a year. Cheap
targeted traffic really does exist!
Results: Increase your company’s unique brand recognition with
more exposure. Increase your traffic = increase sales.

How To Really Profit from Domain Names

Friday Aug 1, 2008

J. Stephen Pope asked:

How To Really Profit from Domain Names by J. Stephen Pope
Have you heard about domain names that sold for over a million
dollars? Inspired by this, you imagine registering a great
domain name, hanging onto it for a while, and then selling it
off to become the next multi-millionaire. It could happen, but
don`t count on it!
First of all, many of the truly great domain names are already
taken. Second, the dot com bust took some of the wind out of
inflated domain name prices. (If you sell your domain name for
millions of dollars worth of stock in a publicly traded dot com
flop, what is the name really worth?)
The cybersquatter buys domain names totally on speculation.
Sometimes he will register names of famous brands, companies, or
individuals. Time and again, these domain name speculators learn
the hard way that they must respect intellectual property
rights. They hope that some large corporation will pay big bucks
to them for the use of the company`s own (already trademarked)
name. Instead, they end up with threatening letters from a law
firm for their attempts at extortion.
However, you can still make money from domain names if you are
sensible in your approach. Here are some suggestions on ways to
profit.
1. Affiliate Programs: Use your domain name to promote an
appropriate affiliate program. Either redirect to the affiliate
site or write a review that links to them.
2. Informational Sites: Create content and then profit from it
by earning advertising revenue through Google AdSense or a
similar program.
3. Redirect to Your Own Site: Some reasons you might want to do
this include preventing competitors from using a particular
domain name and benefiting from searches some users perform by
domain name. (For example, if they wanted to order flowers, they
might just type “flowers.com” in their web browser. You could
get some traffic and sales this way.)
4. Product Sites: Create your own or sell someone else`s product
appropriate to your domain name.
5. Park Your Domain Names: You might feel that your name has
real potential for resale value. There are companies that will
allow you to park your domain on their servers, advertise that
your name is for sale, and split advertising revenue with you.
The trick is to generate traffic for your domain name. That
traffic in turn will create revenue. Then, when you go to sell
your domain name, you will have a few things going for you.
First, you will have a fully developed website. A fully
constructed building on a piece of land increases the value of
the real estate property. Similarly, the value of your domain
name is enhanced by a complete and operating website.
Second, you have traffic. Just as a shopping mall with no
traffic results in no sales, so a website must have traffic to
generate income.
Third, you have income. An income property, such as an apartment
building, can be appraised on the basis of its income (as well
as other factors). Similarly, the gross income, net profits and
cashflow of a website have value. For example, if someone
offered you $1,000 for your domain name and website when it was
generating $10,000 per day in profits, you would likely laugh at
him.
You really can profit from your domain name investments by
adding value and properly developing your web properties.

How to Make Money Online Through Domaining

Tuesday Jul 29, 2008

Carael Knight asked:

Domaining is an Internet-based business through which you buy, sell, develop and monetize (convert into money) Internet domain names. Domain names are web addresses and come in a variety of different extensions, the most common of which is .com. These domain name portfolios can include marketable, generic word names, or names with expired registrations that still have a decent amount of traffic.

Domainers

This term refers to individuals, companies and organizations that make it their business to collect portfolios of generic Internet domain names. Domainers typically avoid trademarked names and will not take part in typosquatting (leading a user who accidentally mistyped a website address to an alternate website). Domaining is considered by those who practice it to be in the same business vein as real estate investing. The business of domaining includes domain parking, domain name reselling, and domain name development. A strong combination of these elements will provide you with a higher income potential as you begin collecting revenue from each practice.

Domain Parking

Domainers generate revenue by using domain parking. This method takes type-in visitors to an underdeveloped website that has advertisement listings and links. Through the pay-per-click method, the domainer makes money based on the number of clicks each advertisement gets. The domainer determines whose ads will have links posted on the site through advertisers bidding for placement. Once the ads have been posted, each click on the link will earn the domainer income.

Domain Name Reselling

The business of domain name reselling involves providing registration of available domain names for business clients. Reselling may also include acquiring expired domains from a drop registrar for resale at a later date. A drop registrar takes domain names that have expired and have been deleted and registers them for use again.

Domain name auctions provide resellers with another way to buy and sell domains and can prove to be quite profitable if you have quality domain names that are in demand.

Domain Name Development

If you want to take things a step further and make even more money online with your domain name business, develop your domain names into fully functioning Web sites. That way, you will profit from the sites as well as through various web marketing techniques that increase traffic to each of them. Marketing techniques that are sure to drive Internet traffic to your sites include:

* Pay-per-click (PPC) * Affiliate marketing * Search engine optimization (SEO) * Really simple syndication (RSS feeds)

There are many methods that increase your odds of making money online. You can learn everything you need to know about starting one of these Internet businesses by surfing the Web for information. Find out what each type of business involves and the best ways to get started. Visit Web sites of other Internet entrepreneurs who are already making money with the type of online business you want to launch. Take the time to learn what works for them and what does not.

Making money online through domaining can be a very profitable venture if you take the time to research the best methods for building your business the right way. A bit of reading and research will give you access to all the knowledge needed to cash in on this online money maker.

The Dangers of Searching for your Perfect Domain Name

Thursday Jun 26, 2008

Leona Velez asked:

Beware! There are some things to watch out for when selecting your domain name. The domain landscape is incredibly crowded. There are over one million domains registered daily (there were 1,263,695 domains registered on 8 Jun 07 according to Domain Tools). The good news is that domains drop, expire, and come back into circulation. You can also still come up with some great names. The bad news is that there is a segment of the domain industry that is more than willing to snatch your domain idea if you take one misstep.

One of the most popular ways to search for the availability of a domain is to type the name directly into a registrar like GoDaddy.com. It makes sense to check there, because if you confirm the availability, then you can simply register the name right then and there. If you do this, there is absolutely no problem. However, and this is a huge however, if you decide to wait and think on it, you run the risk of losing this name to a domain squatter. In fact I can almost guarantee if you have even a remotely useful domain name, it will be gone. Domain squatters are doing absolutely nothing illegal. They are simply staking a claim of internet real estate albeit with a little inside knowledge garnered from your seemingly innocuous search. Instead of paying $6.95 and some change for that great domain, you’ll be faced with a request for $500 and up depending on how desirable the domain is.

Here are some ways to prevent this. First and foremost, if you even begin to consider looking up domains names, and I don’t care where you look it up, have a credit card in hand and pull the trigger! Buy the name right then and there. If you decide not to develop it, you can sell the domain, park the domain for future use, or let it drop back into circulation losing only the initial $6.95 investment.

Second, if you aren’t ready to buy the domain and prefer to search and mull it over, then do not use a registrar like GoDaddy to search for domains. Using the GoDaddy search option, I lost FossilCreek.com and Webistics.com literally the day after I looked them up. I naively thought it was a freak coincidence. I have since been educated.

It is also important to note that GoDaddy is doing nothing wrong. Their search mechanisms often place previously searched names in the domain suggestion fields on future searches. They just do what they do best, and that is sell a whole bunch of domain names for a low cost. A lot of domaineers use Moniker.com to do domain availability searches and swear by the authenticity and security of Moniker. I haven’t personally used this site, but it has been recommended to me by several different esteemed sources. Again, the best policy is to register the domain if you even remotely like the domain.

In closing it is a real drag to come up with a great domain just to lose it the very next day. When I came up with the name www.infoaces.com, I had two credit cards in hand with my registrar account information all ready to go. I for sure was not going to lose this one.

I don’t know what happened to the FossilCreek website, but I followed up on the Webistics domain name and learned that it sold for $100. Thankfully, it wasn’t thousands of dollars, but it’s still $93.05 that could have gone to my pizza and Diet-Pepsi fund! If you have any questions, tips, or suggestions, please feel free to email me. I enjoy the feedback, and I especially like the success stories. Leona. www.infoaces.com

How to Easily Earn Revenue Parking Domains

Thursday Jun 12, 2008
domain parking
Peter Johnson asked:

If you want to quickly earn revenue parking domains, then there are a few basic things you should understand first. Domain parking has become a fantastic way to make money from an unused domain name, and then potentially sell it for a profit. Google has recently began penalising less desirable domain parking services, so it is crucial to start off on the right foot. Always choose a paid domain parking service over a free one, as you will be able to keep 100% of revenue generated in most circumstances.

Keyword Research

Like with most things related to making money online, keyword research is the first thing you should perform when considering purchasing and parking a domain name. Use the Overture Keyword Tool or Wordtracker to isolate a keyword phrase with high demand and low competition. Ideally the phrase should have more than 1500 searches per month and less than 1,000,000 listings on Google SERPS.

Paid Domain Parking Service

There is little doubt that a paid domain parking service is capable of generating more profit for the user than free services. The reason being free domain parking services take a fair whack of the revenue generated - up to 50%. This may not seem like a bid deal initially, but imagine when your domain name starts generating revenue in the vicinity of $30 per day - that’s a lot of money you will be missing out on.

A further benefit of a paid domain parking service is that you will normally be supplied with a system that auto generates fresh relevant content. There is no way to fool Google anymore - fresh and relevant content is the only way to earn serious revenue via domain parking. Old domain parking services which are essentially a block of sponsored links are being penalised and are fast developing a bad reputation. The most reliable way to profit from domain parking is to have fresh content with advertisements distributed evenly throughout.

Domain Parking Practices To Avoid

There are many scams and shady websites promoting domain parking. Often they will take a large majority of the revenue for your domain name and utilise re-directs to funnel potential revenue from your parked domain. ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) also monitor cybersquatting - using a domain name which is someone else’s intellectual property so beware of this.

Conclusion

Domain parking is a fantastic way to earn revenue online. Hopefully this article has provided you with some basic tips to get started and ensure your parked domain only generates profit and increases in value over time.

Making Money Parking Domains

Abdul Rahman Malik asked:

The internet has been the great place for the profit and earning . The google boom and followed by yahoo , MSN and Adbrite . The publishers of the most trafficked and busy sites have been busy in pocketing dollars for the every traffic and pay per click Advertisements shown on their sites . But the poor site owners and the bloggers who have low traffic or visitors have to wait for months to collect their revenue which was earned from the site advertisements . But thanks to parking sites such as godaddy.com , Sedo.com , name drive and parked.com , the domainers have been able to earn the revenue from the ads shown on their domains . You do not need to purchase hosting or spend a lot on the web design and we developers when you can start earning simply from the purchasing the domains and parking them on the sites which are most visited .

There is no any superior skills of web design or programming required for this business . you can earn while you sleep and this goes on . Some sites also place the banner that the domains are for sale . Thus you save on advertisement costs as well as marketing costs . All is done by parking sites. No matter you have registered domain on any site , just point your domain Name Servers (DNS) to parked sites address . Just go to parking sites , write the tags or keywords matching the domains nature and functions select suitable template and the parked domain will start showing ads of google or yahoo according to the domain parking site’s ads partner and you start earning in minutes. Alternatively you can forward your domain to parking site such as www.sedoparking.com/yourdomain . To set up your domain for parking , just take a look at the following steps . Suppose you have purchased a domain from bravenet.com and you want to point the domain to Sedo parking the method will be as follows : go to bravent.com enter your username and password . click on the domain you purchased and then go to change name servers . The name servers will appear like this.

N̿.BRAVEHOST.COM and Ǹ.BRAVEHOST.COM. Its the place where you change the name servers and point it to the Sedo name Servers which are N̿.SEDOPARKING.COM and Ǹ.SEDOPARKING.COM. The easy step will be to change name servers to SEDO then press submit . The name servers are now changed and the ads will start showing on your domain default page . Remember that before adding your domains to parking sites , first change the current name servers to the parking site’s Name servers as parking sites have to validate the WHOIS information so as to know that you are the real owner of the domain .

If you are a beginner or running short of savings to this business then start from .info domains as these are very cheap . you will have .info domains from Godaddy.com in just $3.15 and its reseller ix-one.com sells the same .info domains in just $2.15 . The .info domains are much cheaper than .com , .org or .net domains which start from $6 dollars to 12 dollars and the .tv and .fm domains cost even more . I have registered 100 .info domains and parked. My average daily earnings are $6 to $8 dollars per day and you can earn $200 Plus Dollars in month while you sleep . The earnings will grow as the domains crawled by search engines and typed by users . after all you have nothing to lose but to earn whenever the default domains are shown to visitors or clicked . But be careful , never click on your domains ads yourself as you might be banned from parking domains and all earnings will seized . Always register those domains which are of very common nature such for freelance advertisements you can register www.freelancemania.info , for online hotel booking you can purchase a domain like www.ehotelbooking.info for any matrimonial sites just register www.bestmatrimony.com , for articles and content advertisements you can have domains such as www.articlesmob.info and www.contentmasters.info . if you have idea of showing ads of freelance writing sites then a domain like www.vectralance.info will be an added value . The educations searches are made on regular basis so you can register a domain like www.educationexpo.info . suppose that you want to register a domain which related to sports only then the domain like www.allsportsbuzz.info will be fine and attractive . The pay per click and cost per Million impressions websites are increasing day by day and many advertisers as well as publishers are keen to search the PPC and CPM based sites . Registering a domain similar to this keyword click could bring you more traffic such as www.vectraclick.info. Hundreds of the jobseekers around the world search for online job sites to register themselves and applying for jobs be they full time , or part time or home based freelance jobs such as www.jobsbay.org . The jobs keyword can earn you more dollars. In today’s world every one wants a fast and secure system for online money transfer and payment . The online payment systems such Western union , google checkout etc are in continuous demand and subjects of the searches made over the search engines . Registering a domain like www.epaypal.info sounds similar to pay pal can show the ads of online payment systems . The you Tube , meta café , daily motion video sharing sites have been very popular in social networking . every day millions of videos are watched and submitted by users for viewers . The domain such as www.videoeden.info will be very useful for cash parking as its key words will videos and videos sharing , video submitting etc over the internet . several people enjoy online purchases through various credit cards and debit cards such VISA , Masters Card , American Express , JCB , Diner’s Club . The parking a domain such as www.electrocards.info will be high traffic domains for earning more revenue for cash parking . Parking domains for travel sites is also more yielding as it includes trips , air flights , hotels , booking and are based on high CPC and CPM based . My only domain www.globaltravelguide.info concerning traveling ,earns me the amount of 10 domains per month due to its high trafficked and costly keywords .The technology based online shopping sites are also popular a domain such as www.vectracity.com will be a great value to attract more visitors or more searches over the net. Some people are keen of watching and keeping the latest models of cars and luxury costly cars . The domain such as www.luxurycarsclub.info will make some to visits the site where information regarding the latest models of the cars is available .Everyday hundreds of the bloggers and blog advertisers hunt for the sites to advertise or monetize the blogs adding domain such as www.bloggermedia.info will earn you more revenue whoever searches the key word Blog advertising , blog hosting etc. The website and domain registrar sites are always visited by millions to start their business over the net . The domains such as www.Superflashsites.com , www.yoursdomain.info and www.xtrawebsol.com are worth mentioning. The affiliate marketing has been very lucrative business for online retailers . The domain as www.affiliatemarketingtm.info will add value to your cash parking business . The online matrimonial sites are like viral articles so every one tests his/ her luck for match hunt . The domain such as www.getmarriednow.biz will be very handy and earn you more revenue from the cash parking which needs only one time investment . The development jobs are also most wanted due to handsome and lucrative salaries . The domain such as www.developmentjobs.info may bring some charm and money in your pocket . Thanks to internet which has provided many sources of revenue to the online traders . The online trading business has been very profiting as compared to offline trading . The domain such as www.etradeonline.info will certainly boost your revenues at higher level.

All the domains included in this article are the examples of cash parking . you must visit them in order to know how your parked domains will look like after parking them . I have visited many domain parking sites Go daddy , Sedo , Name drive , gold key , parking dots , parking panel , domain hop , parked , domain sponsor , active audience and trafficz But I will recommend you to concentrate on three parking leaders www.sedo.com . www.godaddy.com and www.namedrive.com . The Sedo and name drive are free parking sites where you can park un limited domains for free where as go daddy charges 3 to 4 US dollars for basic parking which includes 60% revenue share of the parked domains and 80% for the premium cash parking . suppose you earned 100 dollars in April , if you have Basic cash parking then you earned $60 and $40 dollars will go to go daddy share . If you have premium cash parking account with godaddy.com , then you will pocket $80 and $ 20 Dollars will go in Godaddy.com . The domain registration is the problem of all as all the customer need cheap and established registrar and web hosting . Information on Domain Names

Priyanka Agarwal asked:

It’s been two years since John started his online business. He
is very much satisfied with his current web host whose services
he acquired one year ago. Today John is relaxing in his chair
and thinking about the initial days when he spent many hours on
the Internet collecting information related to web hosting. Like
him there are many John’s out there who are in search of
information everyday, visiting this and that website hoping to
find the most illuminating advice. The problem is that common
topics of interest can be found on most of the websites whereas
other relevant issues are not dealt with everywhere. This
article is going to touch on one of those areas: various
concerns related with domain names.
What is multiple domain hosting? Many times you will see that a
web host offers multiple domain hosting. In simpler words it
means that on buying an account you will have the ability to get
multiple websites. For instance, if the plan provides you with
five domain names, you can use one domain for your website and
you will still have four domain names leftover to use. The
advantage of this scenario is that you can resell these four
domain names to your clients.
What is Domain Parking? If you are planning to build up a
website and have decided on a name for it you then must purchase
that domain name from a domain registrar: i.e. your domain name
gets placed on a name server so that you can use it later on.
This is known as domain parking. Even if your website content is
not ready, it’s better to park your desired domain name.
Otherwise, it might be possible that in future somebody else
acquires that particular domain name.
What are sub domains? Sub domains are ‘third level’ domains in
the sense that they are used solely to organize your website
content. They are simply folders under your root directory, but
to access them a special URL is used. For instance,
http://www.m6.net is a regular URL without a sub domain.
http://features.m6.net is an URL with the sub domain name:
“features”. Here the: .net: is the first level domain, m6: is
the second level domain, features: is the third level domain
For how long does a domain name belong to you? Generally when
you register a domain name it is registered for a minimum of one
year. However, you can register it for more years, as there is
no hard and fast rule as such.
What is Domain Renewal? After one year you need to renew your
domain name so that your website doesn’t get lost. Generally
when your domain is about to expire your domain registrar will
send you a reminder mail regarding the domain renewal.
What happens when your domain name expires? When your domain
name expires you can renew it within one month. If you don’t
renew it in this period it goes into a redemption phase. It
stays in this redemption phase for 15 to 30 days before it is
then available for purchase again at a normal price. Getting a
domain name out of redemption phase is like buying fifty domains
as it can cost around $200!
How to find out the owner of a domain name? To find out the
owner of a domain name, use the WhoIs search tool on the
Internet .For E.g. Go to http://centralops.net/co/ and type the
domain name under Domain Dossier. It will show you the name of
the registrant/domain’s owner/web host.
What is WhoIs record? WhoIS record is a domain name search
engine/Internet program where users can enter an Internet entity
(e.g. a domain, a network, some hosts) and it will give detailed
information on the domain registrar, the owner of the domain,
and respective DNS records.

15 Ways to Become a Better Domainer

Rudy Hernandez asked:

The competition in the domain industry is steadily increasing as more and more people are becoming aware of it’s global impact in today’s financial marketplace. Professional investors and huge corporations are staking their claim of this internet real estate and have turned this once primitive name exchange into a booming multi-billion dollar industry.

Today’s domainers are needing take their domain investing to another level in order to have continued success and profitability. Below are 15 Ways To Become A Better Domainer.

Utilize the forums

As I’ve said in previous posts, the importance of domaining forums in the domain industry are vital and serve as a great resource for beginners and professional domainers alike. Whether you are looking for some honest appraisal opinions or asking questions that only another domainer would know the answer to, the domain forums are there to assist. 24 hours a day, 365 days a week, this constant stream of domain information has shaped many beginner domainers into today’s greatest professional domainers. If you’re not a member of a domain forum you should greatly consider joining one today.

Are you a domainer or a domain developer?

Are you buying domains for quick profit sales? Are you buying domains for the long-term traffic revenue? Are you buying domains to develop and birth new traffic? Whether you choose to do one or all three, you must come to terms and clarify a solid game plan when it comes to your domain investments. It’s reasonably okay to have a few domains being developed but your overall strategy needs to take shape and be narrowed down to a specific objective. Developing a domain name takes time, effort and more time, but the possible payoffs are always huge. Buying domain names in bulk for quick sales is also profitable but relies more on a constant sales initiative to be successful. Either way, you need a tactical approach on how you want to market your domains.

Dissect your portfolio

I once spoke to a guy who boasted a domain portfolio of over 3000 names. After hearing how he was considering selling a few of his “best″ domains, I offered to peruse the list and maybe assist with finding some end users that might be potential buyers. He agreed and the next day he sent me a list of about 1000 of his best domains that he was willing to sell. To my surprise over 90% of them were, in my humble opinion, not worth much more than the reg fee. I contacted him back and explained that I was only to find about 75-100 names that could possibly be decent sales. He was stunned. He declined and stated that my appraisal was not correct and thanked me for my time. 3 days laters, I received an email from the exact same guy asking for assistance in selling the 75-100 domain names I previously found in his list. Seems that during those 3 days, he spoke to a few other domainers and received the same appraisal and evaluation of his so called “best″ domains. This guy thought since his domains contained popular words like gamble, casino, sex and technology that it automatically made his domains super valuable. What he didn′t consider was the multiple hyphens and terrible combinations of typos and keywords. Don′t be the domainer with a huge list of terrible domains just to brag about how large your portfolio is. Trim your “extra” domains and streamline by selling or trading and use the profit for investing in quality names that are earmarked for immediate revenue or immediate development. Be proud of the overall quality of your portfolio and not just the number of domains it contains.

Know your rep

I amazed on how many people I encounter that in the domain industry that have no idea who their representatives are for such companies as Sedo, Moniker, Go Daddy and other big domain powerhouses. The representatives of such companies exist to assist their members who utilize their services and are hands-down the quickest and easiest way to get something resolved if you feel a mistake has been made. If you have domains either parked or offered for sale with a domain company, I highly suggest sending a quick email to find out who your representative is and do you best to maintain a professional and courteous relationship with them. It’s easier to ask assistance from someone whom you know and knows you than it is to ask a complete stranger. And don′t forget to vote for your favorite domain rep at next years Domainers Choice Awards.

Stay clear of Trademark Infringements

This should be a no-brainer. Time and time again I see domainers struggle with the headaches caused by trademark infringements and bad faith domain registrations. Not only do most of the trademark claims filed at the WIPO result in the domain being transferred to the appropriate party, but it also indicates that your choice in domains is questionable and therefore proving that you are still purchasing non-quality domain names. Domains that infringe on trademarks are not quality. Ask any lawyer. Save your registration fee and steer clear of legal woes.

Auto-renew

Now that your portfolio is streamlined and contains only select domain names, you definitely don′t want to lose or let any of them drop and take a chance of someone else buying you lovely internet real estate. Do yourself a favor and set your domains for auto-renew at your domain register where purchased. It’s a terrible feeling to have someone else scoop up one of your prize domains just because you didn′t or couldn′t find the time to renew the registration. Visit this great article by the Daily Domainer that explains the life-cycle of a domain name and don′t let accidental “drops” happen to you.

Limit the hand regs

Hand regs or hand registrations are domains that are purchased from a publicly available source at a regular registration fee and are either brand new (never been purchased) or have expired and no longer owned by the previous owner. Go Daddy is a domain registrar that is popular with domainers and consistently used for hand regs. The possibility of stumbling along a unregistered domain is always there and the opportunity for someone to register a new domain name that never existed and create value to it is also conceivable, but in essence, most domain names that are hand regged are simply non-researched, impulse purchases that pad a domain portfolio with non-value names. Distinguish yourself as a profitable domainer and limit the amount of hand regs you add to your portfolio. One good way is to wait 24 hours before registering a hand reg domain and then re-evaluating before buying. You may lose a registration every so often but in the long run you will save on unnecessary registration fees and useless domain name ownership.

Stay current with news and sales

To be successful is to be informed. The pulse of the domain industry is constantly evolving and therefore it is beneficial to a domainer to know exactly what is the next potential opportunity or trend being created within our industry. If you buy domain names, you are an investor. If you are an investor, you need to stay current with the news of your investments and other people’s investments. You can do this by monitoring the recent domain sales and news offered by many websites that are specifically geared towards todays domainers. One of my favorite websites is Ron Jackson’s DNJournal. You can find great articles, news and the popular Year To Date domain sales. You need to know what domains are selling, which domains are being bought and how much they are being bought for. Invest time in your investments and reap the rewards. Predicting the next big trend is priceless.

Blog around

Domaining blogs are sprouting up everywhere with domainers eager to share their experiences, setbacks, lessons learned and tips with anyone who wants to listen. We all need to take advantage of this free and useful information by visiting various domain blogs and getting another person’s perspective on our industry. And don′t forget to subscribe to their RSS feeds, if it is offered, and have all this new information sent directly to you to read at your convenience… for free. Subscribe to this blog here.

Diversify with other TLD extensions

While some domainers swear that .com is the only extension worth being bought, there are others, like me, who think it’s absolutely insane to dismiss all other TLD’s and only buy one flavor of domain name. The popularity of .TV and .Mobi and the ongoing success of ccTLD’s has risen and is playing a prominent part in today’s domain marketplace. Generic domains in any of these extensions are being recognized as a highly sought after commodity with no signs of slowing. Familiarize yourself with other TLD’s beside .com, .net and .org and evaluate your domain purchases on a global niche scale the next time you go to buy a domain.

Consider fractional domain ownership

Fractional domain ownership is simply a group of people that own a domain name and share in it’s profits, development and use. There is not one sole owner because it is owned by the entire group. Owning a portion of a high value domain is a great way for a newcomer to the domain industry to begin and understand the ins and outs of professional domaining and share in the profit growth associated with that certain domain. It also allows “regular” domainers to group funds together and own a very premier domain name without one person having to pay the entire purchase price. Look for this trend to boom in 2008.

Optimize your parked pages

Once you buy a domain name, it is up to you whether your domain will contain a fully-functional website that you can customize/adsense or whether you will “park” your domain and allow targeted content to automatically be placed and monetized per visitor. If you choose to park your domains, it’s imperative that you understand how domain parking works and how it can be optimized to bring better results. Sedo is a popular place for domain parking and allows users to see detailed stats and account information for each domain parked on the Sedo network. Revenue is shared with Sedo each time someone clicks on content on one of your parked pages and relies on consistent traffic to be a steady stream of income. Brush up on your domain parking information here.

Update your WHOIS information

The WHOIS database is sort of like a directory of purchased domain names that contains the owner’s contact information, purchase date and expiration of a certain domain. One use of this information is being able to contact a domain owner and inquire about purchasing the domain. Without the correct information in the WHOis database, a potential buyer may not be able to contact the current owner and allow an offer to be placed. Contact your domain registrars and make sure your WHOis information is current and correct. If you opt not to be contacted by potential buyers, you may consider using a service that purchases domains for it’s clients and keeps their information private. There is also an option to pay an additional fee at some domain registrars for private domain registration.

Contact more end users

So you have a great domain name that is considered gold in a certain industry. Great job. Now, if you have decided not to develop it and simply want to profit from a sale, I highly suggest contacting an end user. What’s and end user? An end user is someone who would use the domain name specifically for creating brand recognition in a certain industry. Here’s an example: Adam owns organicdogfood.com and Bob owns an organic dog food company in Texas but uses the domain BobsSuperGoodOrganicDogFood.com. Adam contacts Bob and offers a shorter, brandable and easier to remember domain name that can increase Bob’s exposure on the internet for people searching for organic dogfood. Adam has just contacted a possible end user. A domain name can usually be sold to an end user for more since it is valued more by the actual user of the domain instead of a regular domain buyer.

Change your views on the domain industry

Are there still opportunities to be successful in today’s domain industry? Yes.

Is there still time to take advantage of the booming domain sales? Yes.

Is it still possible for a domain newbie to come in and thrive even with a small initial investment. Yes.

The Cheapest Domain Names - What Do You Really Get for $1.99?

Saturday May 31, 2008

Mark Shin asked:

There are several sites on the internet claiming to offer the cheapest domain names. If you look hard enough, you can find domain names for as low as $1.99 or $2.99 per year. So, what’s the catch?

You have to realize that not all domain names are created equally. And, not all domain registrars include the same services in the price of your domain name. A good .com domain name will cost around $10 per year and should include at the very least,

free domain forwarding

free personalized email addresses & alias forwarding

free parking

full DNS access

free domain registration privacy

When you buy a cheap domain name for $1.99 you’re cutting out some of those services. Depending on your needs, that might be okay, but if you want to actually use your domain name for your website, make sure to read the fine print…

Here are some of the tricks that registrars use when they offer their “cheapest domain names” promotion. Even the big companies do it.

Bait and switch. GoDaddy offers domain names for as low as $2.99 but they’re for the .info domain name. Chances are you want a .com domain name which costs $9.99 per year.

The special discount price only applies to the first year. Yahoo recently sold .com domain names in March for $1.99 but the special price was only for the first year and for new customers. It would switch to $9.95 per year after the first year.

You only get the $1.99 domain name rate if you also buy a non-domain name product (Limit of 1 domain name). A non-domain name product usually means web hosting. Quite frankly, if you’re going to pay for web hosting, find a good registrar that will give you that domain name for absolutely free.

Two sites look awfully familiar. It’s probably because one of the sites is a domain name reseller. Some entrepreneur buys domain names at wholesale cost from the big companies and then resells them to regular people like you or I.

Make sure you do your homework before registering a domain name because you can’t get a refund. As always, buyer beware!

How To Make a Fortune With Expired Domain Names!

Sunday May 25, 2008

Dorothea Carney asked:

Would you like to know where millionaires like Richard Rosenblatt, the former owner of MySpace are currently investing their money? Well, he is investing millions of dollars into domain investing. There is a way that you can make money too, with expired domain names!

Business 2.0 magazine reported that domain investing is creating a new class of millionaires who are making as much as $20,000,000 per year in passive income from simple domain investing.

The field of domain investing is a fairly new one which is just ready to explode with profits. The web has become the new real estate boom. Instead of investing in condos and flipping old houses, people are investing in expired domain names.

So what exactly is an expired domain name? It’s a domain name that someone had bought and didn’t renew for some reason or another. And each day, somewhere between 15,000 and 70,000 domain names are not renewed and fall into the category of expired domain names.

What makes some of these expired domain names so valuable? Well, some have a lot of traffic directed to them already. Some people spent time building a website and a business online, directing taffic to it, exchanging links and developing listings with the search engines. Then they gave up on it or went on to something new. When the original person doesn’t renew the domain name, it becomes an expired domain name and anyone can buy it.

You may be thinking. How can I make money with someone else’s expired domain name? Well, there are several ways.

My favorite way is the easiest and simplest. Right now, when a domain name has expired, the parking company parks the domain. They put ads on it. When someone goes to that domain and clicks on an ad, they make money. Now if YOU own that domain name, and register it with a parking company, which is free, by the way, YOU can get those checks when someone clicks on one of those ads. It is really that simple to start a residual income. Those checks will continue to come in month after month as long as you own that domain name.

Another way you can profit is to resell expired domain names, the same way that you would resell real estate. For example, the highest reported domain sale in 2006 was $7,500,000. Now chances are that you′re not going to stumble onto a million dollar website that no one has noticed, but even if you spend $60 and double your money, that’s not such a bad investment!

Here is another idea. Search for domain names with the same keyword list that you use for your own website. Suppose you have a business selling jewelry, for example. You can purchase expired domain names with the same keywords and then point the visitors from the old websites to your new website. This will give you instant traffic!

While there is no way to determine the actual amount of traffic going to a particular expired domain, you can find out its link popularity in the major search engines.

These are just a few ways that you can make money with expired domain names and if you′re a creative perso
